Week Review

This week in English II we started reading Black Boy by Richard Wright. So far, this is my favorite book that we’ve read this year in English II. It is really well written and the story itself is very riveting. The language used is much easier to understand in Black Boy than in The Scarlet Letter. I also enjoy novels more than plays because, in most cases, the descriptions of settings and characters in the storied are much more vivid and play a much greater role in the story. Reading the footnotes in a script just doesn’t bring the settings to life quite like the descriptions in a good novel can.
